Council is committed to managing and reducing the impacts of flooding to ensure our city remains safe and liveable.
Brisbane and flooding
Brisbane is built on a floodplain which means we will never be able to prevent flooding.
Brisbane needs to be a city that lives comfortably with, and manages the risk of, flooding ? ensuring that flooding is expected, designed and planned for sufficiently. With modern technology and ongoing flood modelling, we are able to better understand risk and respond appropriately.
We all have a role to play in managing the impacts of flooding in our city.

Brisbane?s FloodSmart Future Strategy?will provide residents, industry and business with the confidence that Brisbane has an integrated plan to respond to its flood risk. The strategy will enable sustainable economic development and growth.
